Botox Prices
It is a testament to the simplicity of the Botox procedure that the price is generally very low, for up to 18 months of positive results.
Surgeons often charge patients per area of treatment. The average cost of a Botox session in the United States is $350 per area. Other facial areas that require more than a single injection (e.g. around the eyes where crow's feet tend to form) can range from $500 to $900. Large areas tend to cost more. The forehead for instance might cost as much as $1300.
The total "dose" of Botox in a vial is 100 units but a surgeon can mix different amounts of saline solution with each vial depending on the kind of treatment he wants to administer. By standard, 20 units is about enough to induce long-term paralysis of the muscles.
The majority of the cost associated with Botox is the time and counseling provided by your physician. He or she, would have spent hour and hours learning and keeping up to date with innovations in the industry in hopes of maximizing your experience with Botox. Other than that, it is simply a matter of your doctor's time and energy.
Make sure that you are not suckered into paying for each individual injection. This does not guarantee results, and doctors who charge in this manner often dilute the potency of the injection so they can sell more syringes.
Botox Doses
Insist on the following volumes of active agent per dose:
- 30-50 "units" of Botox
- 60-200 "units" of Dysport
- 750-2,500 "units" of MyoblocTM
These doses (left) are needed to get rid of the wrinkles on the majority of patients faces.
If you are really feeling the money crunch you may be tempted to look for the 'lowest possible price' on a Botox treatment. If this is the case please do so with caution.
Every doctor essentially gets their Botox from the same place and they all generally pay the same price. Beware of anyone offering Botox injections for a very low price. If the price is substantially lower you have to ask yourself, where are these corners being cut? Often the doctor offering low prices is just looking to attract customers so he or she can gain practice. All you have to do is ask yourself: "Do I want to be someone's guinea pig?"
