Botox Side Effects

Generally side effects related to Botox treatments are idiosyncratic and are fairly mild. There have been no recorded fatalities due to a Botox treatment in the United States and there have been a remarkably low number of hospitalizations due to the procedure.

However, the most common side effect from a Botox treatment is a general weakness. Depending on the strength of the toxin used this weakness can last anywhere from one week to a few months. This fairly rare and is usually not prevalent enough to limit the daily routine of the patients life.

One side effect that, while not necessarily negative can effect some people more than others. This is the inability to move certain muscles in the face. So, if you are an actor, musician, politician or have a career where showing a breadth of emotion is crucial you should consult your physician and let them know what your requirements are.

Side effects of Botox

  • nausea
  • fatigue
  • malaise
  • flu-like symptoms
  • rashes at sites distant from the injections

Some patients experience neck weakness, which is especially noticeable when attempting to raise the head from a supine position. This occurs after weakening of the sternocleidomastoid muscles, either from direct injection or diffusion. This is more common in women with long thin necks.

Avoid these adverse effects by using the lowest effective doses and precisely placing toxin into the platysma. But other than these the only side effect you should notice is more attention form everyone from your friends and family to complete strangers.
