Many women will remember famed children's novelist, Judy Blume's excerpt in her masterpiece, "Are you there God? Its me Margaret", where the title character was chanting the following mantra while furiously performing the related breast enhancement exercises:

That memorable excerpt is forever immortalized as the author struck a defining nerve that many women can relate too.

Indeed, the yearning to have bigger busts is not limited to adolescent girls, as women of all ages suffer from the same desire. Their perceived smaller breasts often serve as a constant distraction from attaining full and complete self-confidence. Even strong, independent women can fall into this trap as breasts are considered the definitive symbol of femininity and female sexuality. So to have "small" breasts is to have the lingering curse of not feeling quite as female as wanted.

Alternative to surgery

There is a remarkably quick solution in breast enhancement surgery with breast enlargement, breast augmentation, and breast implant procedures widely available and growing in popularity. However these procedures are major surgeries, which have its associated side effects, risks, complications, and most importantly, cost. Besides, many women are turned of with the idea of plastic surgery, viewing it has superficial and unnatural.

For those women who are conflicted with their small bust but also distaste in plastic surgery, the most natural way to enhance their breasts is through breast enhancement exercise. Although these exercises will NOT increase the size of your breast, it will develop and firm the pectoral area, which may result in the breasts appearing larger. Many breast enhancement companies selling creams and pills that claim will stimulate breast tissue growth, advocate the use of these exercises in conjunction with the use of their product(s).

There are many exercises that can firm the chest area. The following list a few effective exercises:

These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home with the aid of a couple of dumbbells. If your self-motivation is lacking, joining a gym might be a better alternative. In addition, gyms will have machines that perform the same functions and also trainers at hand to answer any questions and to help develop proper form.

Exercise will not only firm your breasts to produce a perception of a larger appearance, it will also help keep you fit. With a healthy body comes a healthy mind. You may find more fulfillments in striving for other goals as you become more self-confident. Who knows, you may no longer feel inadequate of your smaller bust size, and develop some comfort in accepting who you are!
