Culver City Plastic Surgery

Culver City is a city in western Los Angeles County, California.   The community was founded in 1913 by a brilliant real estate developer Harry Culver who sold track homes to "immigrants" from the MidWest.

The famed Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was founded in 1918 by one Thomas Ince as a floundering studio.  Then on, the films kept rolling and Culver City became a center for the movie industry, and later television production, earning the moniker “Heart of Screenland.”

Great films Gone With the Wind, The Thin Man, Citizen Kane, and The Wizard of Oz saw their coming in this city.  More recent films shot in Culver City include Grease, Raging Bull, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, City Slickers, Wag the Dog and Contact.

Television shows Las Vegas, Mad About You, Lassie, Batman, The Andy Griffith Show and Jeopardy were made in Culver City.  The 1970's show CHiPs also featured many chase scenes through the streets.

Great and not-so-great titles, one can only imagine the amount of vanity that pervaded among fastidious actors and actresses. Culver City, including its outskirts, is mostly comprised of middle class homes that were originally built to house studio workers. Restaurants, art galleries, theaters, and shops are crowding the downtown.  

For love of cameras, the “action” in Culver City extends to their intersections.  Since 1999, Culver City has set up red light cameras at 13 of them.  The minimum fine for failing to stop at the signal is minimum $351, just about the steepest in the country.  

Points of interest

The city maybe is all geared up for the shoot, but there are still attractions that are not studio-driven.  For one, the Museum of Jurassic Technology houses many bizarre relics and strange exhibits. The AOL City Guide described the center as "what might have happened if Edgar Allan Poe and P.T. Barnum decided to have a garage sale, but then decided to call it a museum".

Next door is the main exhibit space of Center for Land Use Interpretation, a research organization involved in exploring, examining, and understanding land and landscape issues. Meanwhile, the Star Eco Station is an environmental science and wildlife rescue center. 

A rather obscure restaurant called Tito's Tacos is a Mexican fast-food place widely known in the area and is listed in restaurant guides.

Culver Hotel, a pie-slice-shaped hotel in downtown is formerly owned by John Wayne.  The 1924 landmark has accommodated many stars including Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Red Skelton, Buster Keaton and Ronald Reagan.
