Fat Grafting

Butt Fat Grafting Surgery

Fat Grafting

Fat grafting is the technique or method of extracting fat cells from one area of the body and injecting it into another area where it is needed. Fat grafting has been quite controversial when it was first employed but it proves to be one reliable procedure especially if it is done properly.

Fat grafting is applied in surgical buttock augmentation. In fact it is one of the primary methods used to enhance the appearance of the buttocks region.

In buttock augmentation through fat grafting, body fat is taken out from the body through a liposuction technique. The fat extracted is then purified before re-injecting it into the buttocks of the patient.

Patients who wish to undergo this type of procedure should have plenty of existing body fat to harvest for use to enhance the look of the buttocks. Otherwise, patients may opt to use butt implants for the procedure.

Areas where fat is extracted

  • Arms
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs
  • Back
  • Flanks

Extraction of fat can be done from almost anywhere on the body. The most common areas for fat extraction are the flanks, back, thighs, abdomen, and the arms. However, surgeons don’t just get fat and inject it back to the body without examining the characteristics of the fat cells. It is important that the fat tissue extracted should receive a certain amount of blood supply, known as vascularity, in order for the operation to be successful. Otherwise, the fat cells will just die and be safely reabsorbed by the body. A qualified surgeon will make sure that enough body fat is available to anticipate the potential loss of some volume so that the procedure will produce the appropriate results.

During the fat grafting buttock augmentation, the plastic surgeon gently removes body fat using liposuction with a very thin cannula. Purification of the fat cells then follows as well as examining the characteristic of the extracted fat. After that, fat particles are then inserted in the layers of the buttocks through a single incision that is generally 1/8 inch long. Also, in order for the operation to yield amazing results, it is important that the tiny fat droplets be carefully implanted near small blood vessels that will provide adequate circulation, thus, increasing the chances that the fat cells will survive in the body.
