What Are Camouflage Cosmetics?
What Are Camouflage Cosmetics?
If you find yourself thinking, "what are camouflage cosmetics?" you should know that these products are not tubs of war paint used to hide in the jungle; they are concealers, color-correctors and contouring products specially formulated to disguise the swelling, bruising and incision lines that usually result from plastic surgery.
After plastic surgery it can take months before a patient appears to be completely healed. Sometimes even when a patient feels well enough to get back into their regular routine they will stay confined to their home because of swelling and bruising. The after-effects of surgery can make someone extremely self-conscious and often these after-effects can often elicit unwelcome stares and questions, but with camouflage cosmetics all of these problems can be avoided.
Both men and women to can use camouflage cosmetics to hide incision lines, disguise bruising and reduce the appearance of swelling.
There are three forms of these cosmetics and each serves an individual purpose.
-
First there is concealer. Concealer is similar to liquid foundation except it tends to be more thick and opaque to provide maximum coverage. This product is great for hiding scars, bruises and imperfections.
-
Second there are the color-correctors. There are two types of color-correctors that are widely used by plastic surgery patients, the green-tinted color-correctors and the lavender-tinted color-correctors. These products are used to cover up large discolorations like bruising and redness. Green-tinted color-corrector is largely used to tone down redness, while lavender-tinted color-corrector is better for disguising bruises.
-
The third type of camouflage cosmetic is specially designed for contouring. Contouring camouflage cosmetics can be especially beneficial for people who have had facial implants or rhinoplasty because these surgeries usually result in facial swelling. Using light and shadow (in the form of a highlighting product and a contouring shadow) contouring cosmetics create a natural sculpting effect that can draw attention away from areas that are swollen.
Though camouflage cosmetics can produce amazing results, it is important to check with your surgeon before you begin to use them if you have just undergone surgery. You will want to make sure that all of your incisions have properly healed in order to avoid infection.
If you are ready to embrace your transformation camouflage cosmetics can help you become accustomed to your new look and help you appear on the outside as spectacular as you feel on the inside.
